Rotunda Show at Barrie City Hall

Last fall I attended a workshop with the Pelham Art Association in Fonthill, ON.  Ann More from Burlington was our instructor and she encouraged everyone to let loose with colour!  We began with a black canvas and then sketched our scenes with white chalk.  As we worked, Ann encouraged us to use colours we may not usually use; lots of blues, purples and pinks!

I chose a landscape from a recent trip to Killarney ON.  I had taken a hike to the lighthouse and passed this scene along the way.  I was taken by the twisted and weatherbeaten tree, as well as the rocks, so worn down by the elements.

I will be entering this painting in the Barrie Art Club’s Annual Show at the Rotunda at Barrie City Hall.  The show runs from April 1st to 30th.  There will be an Opening Reception on Wed. April 8th from 7 to 9 pm at the Rotunda. Please join us!!
