This tamarack woods stands at the rear of our property. It is comprised of approximately 6 acres of tamarack or larch trees. When my dad decided to retire and close his golf course, he had the Ministry Of Natural Resources plant the back part of the property with tiny tamarack whips. Nearly forty years later, as they are reaching maturity, this stand of trees is home to great horned owls, a pair of red tailed hawks, a family of deer and many, many other creatures. It is one of the few remaining woodlots in our area and others are dwindling quickly. This is one of my favourite places, especially after a snowfall!
