  • Here Comes The Sun

Acrylic and mixed media 18 by 24 This painting is based on a photo I captured on one of my daily hikes.  It was autumn and the fall colours were glowing through the dead branches of an old hemlock tree, which overlooks Willow Creek.  It reminded me of a stained glass window.

  • Victoria Village Show in April

I entered this painting, Autumn’s Bounty in the Barrie Art Club’s December/January Show.  It was voted one of the favourites by visitors to the show and as a result, I have been invited to hang four to six paintings at Victoria Village, here in Barrie, for the month of April. I will post an update…

  • Rotunda Show at Barrie City Hall

Last fall I attended a workshop with the Pelham Art Association in Fonthill, ON.  Ann More from Burlington was our instructor and she encouraged everyone to let loose with colour!  We began with a black canvas and then sketched our scenes with white chalk.  As we worked, Ann encouraged us to use colours we may…

  • Huge Changes!

I have experienced much unexpected change in my life since my last posts.  Due to unforeseen circumstances, I have had to sell my farm and move on with my life.  I have chosen to move to Barrie to be close to my daughter and her family.  They have been a huge support to me in…

  • Success at the Welland Art Wall

A big thank you goes out to all those who attended my show at the Welland Art Wall.  I received much positive feed back and was fortunate enough to sell seven paintings as a result of the show.  It’s always sad to say goodbye to my paintings, but I am so happy that they will…

  • ‘Daily Paintings’

I have added a new category to my website. There is a new trend in the art community called ‘Daily Painting’, which has become popular with many artists.  The idea is that you complete a small painting in one day, which for me, since I am retired, is approx. 4 hours!  I usually do some…

  • Great Horned Owl

I’ve been meaning to post this photograph of a great horned owl, perched in one of our pine trees.  He appeared there one morning in December and rested for several hours before disappearing.  We often catch glimpses of this amazing creature, as we walk through our woods, but never have I been able to capture…
